SCHOOL CATECHISM
The major thrust of the Commission for Catechetics is on the School Catechism. This is because there is a regular structure for the curriculum and hence Catechism classes and examinations can be organised properly.
All Schools under the Archdiocesan Board of Education and those managed by Religious Congregations are required to register their Catholic students with the Commission at the beginning of every academic year.
The Commission arranges for sale of School Catechism books. The Commission promulgates the syllabus for the year and sets the question papers for the annual Catechism examination, which is conducted at the school level.
All students who secures first position in each class in the schools, appear for a Diocesan level examination, which is conducted by the Commission itself. Those students scoring the highest marks in each class, are declared Diocesan Toppers. The students are awarded participation certificates and merit certificates. Also, the school and Diocesan toppers are awarded mementos.
In addition to acquiring knowledge on faith and morals, students also get an intensive to perform well in the Catechism examinations.
